Important: Details Regarding the Extended Shift to Distance Learning for Sandburg

 

Dear Sandburg families,

As you have learned, Sandburg will continue with the Distance Learning through January 21st.  Students do not have school on Monday, January 24th and will return to in person learning on January 25th.  Here is our Distance Learning structure:

The School Day 
Staff will post their google meet codes in schoology. Attendance will be taken during the google meet. Students and staff will follow their schedules. If a teacher is unable to attend the google meet, a lesson and contact information will be posted in Schoology. Students will need to follow their schedule, and join their google meet at the scheduled time. SMS 2021-2022 Schedule.  

Attendance

  • Students will be marked as present if they join the google meet.

  •  If a student informs a teacher that they did not have internet access, or could not join for technical reasons, they can be marked as present if they submit the assignment.

  • Students who are not attending their google meet sessions and have not contacted the school or the teacher will be marked absent.

  • Students in study hall classes will need to log into their study hall classes. Attendance will be taken during class. Study hall teachers will be available to support students with assignments and/or navigating distance learning.

 

Counselors/Social Workers/School Psychologists  
Will be available via email and provide google meet codes for individuals who have scheduled meetings. 

Special Services

  • Case managers will check into students on their caseload. Via email/google meet

  • SPED EA’s will meet with students in their classes as previously scheduled.

  • Resource rooms will have google meet codes for students to join if help is needed. All classroom teachers will collaborate with appropriate staff to make necessary modifications for students in their classes. 

  • Students who would like additional support or would like to meet with support staff can use the following form to request support.  Student Support Request
     

Meal Information: 4-Day Meal Pick Up Sites and Times for the Week of January 18-21

Sandburg Middle School (2400 Sandburg Lane, Golden Valley, MN 55427)

Tuesday-Friday, daily from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Wednesday 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the rear of the building at Door 20.
