How the Technology Levy Renewal Impacts Parents

As a parent or guardian of a student attending a school in Robbinsdale Area Schools, you are directly impacted by this year’s referendum. So how does the 2024 Capital Projects Technology Levy Renewal impact you?

The levy impacts families in two ways:

1. Your students learning will be enhanced, as will their safety and security, and
2. Your taxes will remain stable – because this is a renewal of the levy, the tax rate will not change.

How will the referendum dollars be spent?

The dollars will be spent mostly on technology, whether that is for classroom use, student use, or to support safety and security. Here are the details:

• Student/staff devices: Annual replacement of a third of all Chromebooks or iPads
• Software: Subscriptions for instructional and non-instructional software (Google Workspace, Microsoft Services, Schoology), cybersecurity
• Classroom technology: Data projectors, digital panels, data centers, wireless access
• Security technology: Cameras, card readers, monitoring, mass notification systems
• Building safety modifications: 4,000 square feet of remodeled entryways
• New safety upgrades: 4,000 square feet of entryway additions

Rdale proposes to keep the tax rate the same, meaning there will be no increase or decrease to taxes unless one's property values change. The renewed technology levy will provide about $7 million in funds annually starting in the next school year. Check out the 2024 technology levy renewal informational video.
