Principal's Welcome

On behalf of our entire staff, I’m delighted to welcome you to Sandburg Middle School. Whether you’re a returning family or joining our community for the first time, we’re glad you’re here.

Middle school is an important and exciting time in a young person’s life—a time of growth, discovery, new challenges, and growing independence. At Sandburg, our goal is to ensure every student feels known, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential. We believe strong relationships among students, families, and staff create the foundation for both academic success and personal growth.

Our dedicated teachers and staff work each day to create a welcoming, engaging environment rooted in respect, curiosity, belonging, and high expectations. Through strong academics, extracurricular opportunities, and a wide range of student supports, we encourage students to explore their interests, discover their strengths, build confidence, and grow as learners and people.

We are proud of the vibrant and diverse community that makes Sandburg such a special place, and families are an essential part of it. We encourage you to stay connected, attend school events, get involved, and reach out whenever you have questions, ideas, or concerns. When schools and families work together, our students are stronger for it.

SPANISH IMMERSION

Sandburg Middle Schools continues the district's Spanish Immersion program. Depending on enrollment, Sandburg students who attended Robbinsdale Spanish Immersion take three classes per day in Spanish: Science, Social Studies and Spanish Language Arts. The program helps students continue to develop bilingual, biliterate, bicultural fluency. 

SANDBURG IS A FULL-SERVICE COMMUNITY SCHOOL

A full-service community school (FSCS) builds partnerships and organizes resources to help students and families thrive. Full-service community schools focus on academics, health, social services, youth development, and engagement – all to improve student learning and strengthen families.

Sandburg Middle School, a FSCS, is a resource center open to everyone, with extended evening and weekend hours.
